Goldberg and Kahler began “The 24/7 Project” in 2014. The project was a collaborative body of work capturing the 24-hour experiences of the artists spending 24 hours in a city: Philadelphia, Washington DC, Boston, Providence, Baltimore, Atlantic City, New York and exhibiting in Venice, Italy. By photographing people and neighborhoods and creating hundreds of ceramic impressions – from manhole covers to architectural details – the project took viewers deeply into the particular essence of each city. The artists traveled extensively to develop these works; it was a continuous challenge throughout the project to take broad city photographic views and architectural city details pressed into clay and merge them into these sophisticated compositions. The artists undertook the merging of two disparate media – photography and ceramics – in truly collaborative and new ways. These blended pieces are uniquely able to allow viewers an experience of how a city both "looks" and "feels." Goldberg and Kahler, spent jam-packed, 24-hour periods in each city, addressing all things urban: transportation, culture, history, people, landmarks, food and all of the idiosyncratic nuances within each city…creating an aesthetic roadmap, if you will, spoken through the artists' interactions and experiences.
